Το έργο αποσκοπεί στην αντιμετώπιση της βίας κατά των γυναικών, ενισχύοντας τα συστήματα πρόληψης, παρέμβασης και υποστήριξης, συνδυάζοντας την εκπαίδευση με την τέχνη.
Ανταποκρίνεται σε συστημικές προκλήσεις που αφήνουν πολλές μετανάστριες σε άγνοια ως προς τα δικαιώματά τους, κοινωνικά απομονωμένες και χωρίς πρόσβαση σε νομικές ή ψυχολογικές υπηρεσίες υποστήριξης.

Το έργο θα επικεντρωθεί στα μέλη της τοπικής κοινότητας, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στις γυναίκες μετανάστριες, αιτήτριες ασύλου και πρόσφυγες. Οι ομάδες αυτές αντιμετωπίζουν αυξημένη ευαλωτότητα λόγω πολλαπλών παραγόντων, όπως πολιτισμικά και γλωσσικά εμπόδια, έλλειψη ενημέρωσης σχετικά με τα δικαιώματα τους και την πρόσβαση σε νομικές, κοινωνικές και ψυχολογικές υπηρεσίες υποστήριξης. Η οικονομική εξάρτηση από τους κακοποιητές τους δυσχεραίνει ακόμη περισσότερο τη δυνατότητα τους να ξεφύγουν από καταστάσεις βίας. Επιπλέον, πολλές δεν γνωρίζουν πώς να πλοηγηθούν μέσα στα συστήματα για να αναζητήσουν βοήθεια.

Η ομάδα περιλαμβάνει γυναίκες που αντιμετωπίζουν οικονομικές δυσκολίες, κοινωνική απομόνωση ή δεν έχουν πρόσβαση στις αναγκαίες υπηρεσίες υποστήριξης. Μέσω του εντοπισμού και της ενεργής εμπλοκής αυτής της ευάλωτης ομάδας, το έργο στοχεύει στην πρόληψη περιστατικών βίας και στην έγκαιρη παρέμβαση.

- Μείωση των περιστατικών έμφυλης βίας μέσω εκστρατειών ευαισθητοποίησης, εκπαίδευσης και δημιουργίας προσβάσιμων συστημάτων υποστήριξης, προσαρμοσμένων στις ανάγκες των γυναικών μεταναστριών. Εστιάζοντας στην πρόληψη, την αντιμετώπιση και τη φροντίδα, το έργο προωθεί την ασφάλεια και την ενδυνάμωση.
- Αύξηση της ευαισθητοποίησης και της κατανόησης μεταξύ των μεταναστευτικών κοινοτήτων και του ευρύτερου κοινού σχετικά με την έμφυλη βία κατά των γυναικών και τις στρατηγικές πρόληψης.
- Ενίσχυση του συντονισμού μεταξύ των παρόχων υπηρεσιών και των μελών της κοινότητας για πιο αποτελεσματική αντιμετώπιση της βίας, προστασία των δικαιωμάτων των γυναικών και προώθηση της ισότητας των φύλων στον χώρο εργασίας και σε άλλους τομείς.
Επιπλέον, στόχος είναι η παροχή υποστήριξης στις γυναίκες θύματα βίας.

- Ενδυνάμωση των Γυναικών Μεταναστριών - Το έργο προσφέρει στις γυναίκες τα απαραίτητα εργαλεία για να μάθουν και να υπερασπιστούν τα δικαιώματα τους, μέσα από εκπαιδευτικά εργαστήρια, πολύγλωσσο υλικό υποστήριξης και πρόσβαση σε νομικές και ψυχολογικές υπηρεσίες. Εστιάζοντας στην πρόληψη και τη φροντίδα θυμάτων βίας, το έργο ενισχύει την ασφάλεια και την αυτοπεποίθηση των γυναικών
- Ευαισθητοποίηση του Κοινού - Η πρωτοβουλία δεν περιορίζεται μόνο στην κοινότητα των μεταναστριών. Το έργο απευθύνεται και στο ευρύ κοινό μέσω εκστρατειών στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης, εκπαιδευτικών και καλλιτεχνικών εργαστηρίων και εκδηλώσεων, με στόχο την αμφισβήτηση επιβλαβών στερεοτύπων και την προώθηση μιας πιο συμπεριληπτικής κοινωνίας.
- Ενίσχυση των Συστημάτων Υποστήριξης - Μέσα από την ανάπτυξη εκπαιδευτικού υλικού για παρόχους υπηρεσιών, το έργο ενισχύει τον συντονισμό και προάγει μια πιο ευαίσθητη και αποτελεσματική προσέγγιση σε περιστατικά έμφυλης βίας. Με αυτόν τον τρόπο διασφαλίζεται ότι τα θύματα βίας λαμβάνουν την υποστήριξη που χρειάζονται, χωρίς φόβο ή στιγματισμό.
- Ενίσχυση των Δεσμών της Κοινότητας - Δημιουργικές δράσεις, όπως καλλιτεχνικά εργαστήρια και δραστηριότητες για τη νεολαία, ενισχύουν την αλληλεγγύη και την κατανόηση μεταξύ διαφορετικών πολιτισμών. Μέσα από αυτές τις δράσεις προάγεται ο διάλογος και ενδυναμώνεται το συλλογικό αίσθημα ευθύνης για την καταπολέμηση της βίας.

The BAGAP – ΣΕ ΑΝΤΙΜΕΤΩΠΙΖΩ project is about preventing gender-based violence (GBV), with a particular focus on migrant women. Financial dependence on their abusers further complicates their ability to escape violent situations. Moreover, existing support services are often not fully accessible to all women, and many are unaware of how to navigate these systems to seek help. These challenges highlight the urgent need for a specialized response to protect and empower migrant women. The project aims to ensure that they receive the necessary support and resources to overcome the difficulties associated with GBV.
Goals:
- Reduce Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
Reduce the incidence of GBV through awareness campaigns, education, and the creation of accessible support systems tailored for migrant women. By focusing on prevention, response, and survivor-centered care, it promotes safety and empowerment.
- Increased awareness and understanding among migrant communities and the general public about GBV and prevention strategies. The project specifically addresses the unique vulnerabilities faced by migrant women in Paphos due to social exclusion, economic dependency, and limited access to support services. However, to address these issues in Cyprus, we also need to increase awareness in the general public.
- Enhanced coordination among service providers to deliver more effective, survivor-centered response to GBV
Workshops and training activities’ goals are to educate both service providers and community members on gender equality, legal rights, and how to support survivors effectively.

PROJECT CONTEXT
In Cyprus, gender-based violence (GBV) remains a significant concern. Recent reports from the Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO) indicate that 380 GBV cases were handled in 2023, with a notable rise in domestic violence incidents, including 230 new cases and 150 carried over from 2022. Despite investments in shelters and support systems, several challenges persist:
To address these issues, the project focuses on improving prevention, intervention, and support systems to more effectively address GBV and support its victims. The primary objective is to prevent GBV against migrant women and provide them with the necessary resources and support to live free from violence. This includes increasing awareness of their rights, enhancing access to critical support services such as shelters and legal aid, and offering economic empowerment through vocational training. Additionally, the project aims to advocate for stronger legal protections and better enforcement of GBV laws to ensure migrant women can safely report abuse and seek justice.

Additionally, protective orders are often not enforced effectively, and formal statements made at shelters are lacking.
- Systemic Barriers: The National Strategy and Action Plan (2023-2028) still fails to address key issues such as the enforcement of protective orders and approval of necessary procedures. Advocacy groups emphasize the need for a more comprehensive response, particularly for marginalized populations, including migrant women.
- Response Gaps: Despite ongoing training for law enforcement and public awareness campaigns, significant gaps remain in the effectiveness and implementation of measures designed to combat GBV.

Financial dependency on their abusers further complicates their ability to escape violent situations. Additionally, existing support services may not be fully accessible to migrant women, and many are unaware of how to navigate these systems to seek help.
- At-Risk Women: This group includes women facing economic hardship, social isolation, or a lack of access to necessary support services. By identifying and engaging with this vulnerable group, the project aims to prevent incidents of violence and provide early intervention.
- Community Stakeholders: This group encompasses local organizations, law enforcement, and healthcare providers. Engaging these stakeholders is crucial for creating a comprehensive support network and fostering awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) and available resources.
- Survivors of Gender-Based Violence: This includes women of various ages and backgrounds who have experienced physical, emotional, or sexual violence. By focusing on survivors, the project aims to provide tailored support that addresses their specific needs, helping them regain autonomy and heal.
