WELCOMING STATEMENTThe Welcoming Statement is intended to demonstrate the commitment of local authorities to intercultural principles and welcome newcomers to the district. It is a crucial first step in the Paphos District’s journey toward becoming a more inclusive and intercultural community as it signals a commitment from the municipal authorities to embrace diversity, equality, and interaction as core principles of governance and community life. The Paphos Regional Intercultural Network was responsible for drafting and develop the welcoming statement in consultation with the municipality of Paphos. The statement will be publicly announced, in the website of the Municipality of Paphos, likely in the presence of representatives from the Council of Europe, the European Commission, local officials, and national and local media. This high-profile approach emphasizes the importance of the statement and the district’s commitment to interculturalism. Following the announcement, the statement will be posted to reach a broad audience and communicate the message to all residents. The statement will be translated into various languages spoken by citizens in the Paphos District to ensure accessibility and understanding for all residents. |
