EUROPE FOR CITIZENS The Citizens Are United / TCAU
Project Description: The project " The Citizens Are United - TCAU" aim to engage EU citizens on the stigmatization of immigrants with a view to encourage civic participation, promote tolerance and understanding. The Citizens Are United, is a follow up to 2016's successfully implemented project - "The Citizens are Speaking", where the issue of stigma was first raised by the TCNs themselves during implementation.
The specific objectives of the project are to:
address the gap within the EU's integration policy
fight stigmatization of TCNs that has only increased along the years
promote opportunities for inter-cultural engagement and volunteering at Union level
The activities of the project are:
volunteering activities
Intercultural dialogue activities
publication of a guide book with recommendations to reducing stigma
Conferences for covering the topics of the project
Communication paper on European Agenda for integration of TCNs
- Commission Staff working paper on EU initiatives supporting the integration of TCNs - European Agenda for Migration - Handbook on Integration for policy-makers and practitioners
CCIF Cyprus Contribution to the project: 6 Volunteers worked 90 hours each for executing all tasks related to the activities and project. The activities executed were:
Informative meetings with TCNs from Nepal, Syria, Lebanon and other
Teaching lessons every Thursday for 3 months
Identifying needs and provide support workshops
Learning by doing meetings for learning through ART, promoting cultural and entrepreneurial skills to TCNs
The story telling workshops
The kitchen and culture days
Our Intercaltural Dialogue events were covered by local, national press and RIK TV.
